This varies with each family. And like someone said elsewhere, it works between all cultures. Families have a tolerance for how close/far from their own cultures they can accept. I can't imagine how hard that must make things. His pictures weren't that great. They were dark and if I recall there were only 1 or 2 there, but I overlooked that because he sounded genuine and a bit of a geek like me.
