I have paid for several meals just to make sure I could get away from the guy faster. However, unless the woman makes a fuss when the OP says thanks but no thanks (which he has to do rather than ghost) he doesn't owe her for the meal.

I think this guy either has an interest in someone else and hasn't done anything yet, is cheating again or has just plain old fallen out of love.
