That has got to be so draining. Because it must be exhausting for him. Not only is he exhausted from his long hours at work, but it's emotionally exhausting to get these messages from a needy girl that's acting like she wont survive a minute without him - that must make him feel like crap (that he is failing you) and that he's with someone that is so dependent and clingy that it's all on him to make her happy and give her life meaning.
