For the devout, that's just not a concept. And he believes the only way you can have salvation in the afterlife is to accept Jesus. That's a very real thing. As others have mentioned, this is really a question for the two of you to answer. Aside from the marriage and kids issues, there is one thing you need to be really comfortable with his belief - If he's devout, he sincerely believes in the afterlife. So imagine the sadness he might feel with the thought of spending eternity without the woman (or children) he loves.

The sad thing is that she ruined a three year relationship & her ex probably will never trust her again. She probably thought the grass would be greener with you, but is now having second thoughts. Her boyfriend provided comfort & stability. You are exciting & new, but those qualities aren't sustainable.
